Working out is part of who I am; unfortunately it has not always been that way.
When I realize what I am now physically capable of I am so sorry that I did
not start working out seriously at an earlier age. I get up every morning,
often before my alarm goes off (at 4:30!) ready to go to the gym. I never know
what Henry, my amazing trainer, and I will work on that morning and he
definitely keeps me on my toes! I have been working out at First Class for over
five years. Henry and I have been together for more of that time than not. He
pushes me daily to new levels and is always coming up with new more challenging
routines. There is a group of early morning “warriors” that are at the gym
everyday and I look forward to seeing them each morning. Henry, the
camaraderie, and the relationships are what I love about First Class.
A year ago I had surgery and the recuperation prevented me from working out for
three months. I could walk slowly but not lift any weight. I started back to
the gym the day the doctor ok’d my walking and the energy and goodwill I felt
being back with Henry and my early morning gym friends was better than any
prescription medication. I am a teacher and during this recovery time I began
to question God about what was happening to my passion for teaching. But I was
patient and the minute I was able to return to working out with Henry – in
fact the morning after my workout with Henry, I entered my class and
immediately knew that I loved my kids and I had my answer - I HAD to work out.
The relationship between my workouts and my success in teaching was suddenly so
obvious. I need my workouts to keep my life balanced and to give me energy
throughout the day.
Recently, during a meeting, a coworker (that I use to work out with) announced
that I was freakishly strong! What a compliment! It made my day and I am 53
years old! I am blessed to have found First Class, Henry, and the
relationships that have grown from the gym – but I am even more blessed to
have found the healthy life that I know I was meant to live.

I decided to check out 1st Class Training back in April of this year not long
after they opened their second personal training studio just down the street
from my home. (Their first location is at 5128 Bissonnet St. in Bellaire, and
they also have a separate Pilates studio in Bellaire). I called and made an
appointment for a complimentary 30-minute workout to see how I liked the
facility and the people. Turns out I liked both very much! The facility is
fairly small, but since it's just trainers working one-on-one with clients
there's plenty of room. They've got all the machines and free weights and
cardio equipment they need (including a Pilates machine), and they even have a
shower, towels, and a blow dryer in the ladies room. My first workout was with
the founder and owner, Antonio Armstrong. He's a former professional football
player, but not at all intimidating! He's a great guy, very personable and he
really knows his stuff. His facilities specialize in metabolic training, so
you're really doing aerobic conditioning along with weight training at the same
time. After 30 minutes, I could feel that I had accomplished a lot! I signed
up for 3 months, two days a week, and was assigned to one of their trainers.
Mike has turned out to be a wonderful trainer for me. He's very encouraging
and challenges me each session to push just that little bit more. Here it is
November and I'm still renewing my membership. I've dropped almost 30 pounds
and I'm stronger now than I've ever been in my life.
(Oh, and I've heard more than one of the other clients say that they used to be
members at the Houstonian but have seen more progress in three months at 1st
Class Training than they saw in a year at the Houstonian. Something to think
about!)

I have been working out with Carnell at 1st Class Training for almost 10 months
and I love it. The trainers at 1st Class are fun, very knowledgeable, and
creative! Carnell is always pushing me to be stronger and he varies every

I love 1st Class Training and my personal trainers. I could talk all day about
the positive aspects of 1st Class Training. If you have someone who is
educated, serious about helping their clients and you are willing to make the
commitment, it could be a really great thing to try 1st Class Training. They
have good trainers that are professional and stick to the matter at hand, your
training. Their focus is on you for the entire session and not what is going on
around them. The personal training experience brought me to another level
physically and emotionally. I am extremely proud of what I accomplished through

trainer, and I had complete trust in the concept of 1st Class Training.
Also 1st Class Training provides a safe and comfortable atmosphere in which to
workout and they have their own brand of motivational techniques that they

I have been attending First Class Training at the Tanglewood location for over
1 year. They are outstanding trainers with high energy and commitment to get
you to your “feel fit” goal. As like everyone, I struggled with making the
time for routine exercise at my own pace. After I joined First Class Training,
I received the encouragement and support with a work out plan to reach to my
“feel fit” goal. My trainer, Carnell Specks, was instrumental in starting
me at the right speed and building up my strength and endurance, with a great
“can-do attitude.” I have learned to trust in their training. I saw the
exceptional drive and good humor in all of the trainers. All of the trainers
change their training to adapt to your progress and keep it fun and
challenging. There is a sense of family and friendship there as they take care
of their clients and help them feel the best they can be. I know exercise is
good for your health and well-being and they have that in mind in their
training. What I enjoy the most is the progress that I have made in strength

1st Class Pilates
1st Class Pilates is THE place for a fantastic Pilates workout. Whether you are
new to Pilates or an experienced pro, you will get an incredible, effective
workout. The studio is conveniently located, and there are classes throughout
the day to fit your schedule. Most importantly for me, the instruction is
superb and the environment is very friendly and supportive. Jermaine Miller is
the studio's main asset. He is an excellent teacher - very knowledgeable,
encouraging, and even entertaining. His workouts, which are always different
(and fun) each day, have helped me become strong and lean - and a 1st Class
